Kid Camps + PA Days

The Maker Bean Cafe is your place for creative technology camps to engage your kids & teens, as well as tech-focused PA Day camps. Topics include Robotics, Inventions, Minecraft & Video Game Programming. All camps & programs take place at our 1052 Bloor St. West location.

There are a limited number of scholarships available to those in needs of financial assistance. Descriptions and dates for all programs below, or jump to:


Strike Day Tech Camp – dates to be announced

Have your child spend a fun day meeting new friends & learning tech skills at The Maker Bean Cafe! Using tools such as laser cutters, 3D printers & wood-working tools, your children will create something straight out of their imaginations!

Kids work on a full-day project, with at least 45 minutes of outdoor time at Dufferin Grove Park (5-minute walk from The Maker Bean on Bloor)

If the strikes are called off, refunds can be issued, or credit can be used for PA Day, March Break or Summer camps, which usually sell out early.

Winter 2020 Weekly Tech Camps

Have your kids join our community of young makers as they learn new tech skills & have fun! Our 7-week tech camps will have them learn laser cutting, 3D printing, coding & other skills as they work towards a final project.

For kids 6-12 years old at our 1052 Bloor St. West location.

Ages 6-9: Imagineering sign up here
Imagineering is a class that introduces kids to the fundamental skills of making and programming. Students will take part in activities that teach 21st century skills through games, storytelling and of course, making. $210 / 7 week program!

SATURDAYS 10-12, starting Saturday, Mar 14, 2020.


Ages 6-12: After-School Club sign up here
Imagineering Club is a weekday after school program for kids who have lots of ideas and love to make things. At our maker space, Imagineers will learn new technologies and making skills to bring their ideas to life! $210 / 7 weeks

THURSDAYS 3:30-6 PM (kids can arrive anytime after 3:30, and will start the day’s activities when they arrive), starting Thursday, Mar 12, 2020.

Do you often dream up ideas and inventions – but rarely ever get the chance to bring them to life? Using a combination of high tech tools (3D printing, laser cutting, electronics), wood working and craft, we provide the mentorship and structure to help you turn your sketched ideas into working prototypes – led by your own interests, imagination and ingenuity. $210 / 7 week program!

SATURDAYS 1-3 PM, starting Saturday, Mar 14, 2020.


PA Days

We host tech-focused PA Day camps, ages 6-12, 9 AM – 4 PM, before & after care available.

Kids work on a full-day project, with at least 45 minutes of outdoor time at Dufferin Grove Park (5-minute walk from The Maker Bean on Bloor)

Feb 14, 2020 – Magic Wand & Magic Trick Camp – sign up here

Your kids will use laser-cut parts, circuits, LEDs & copper wire to create a magic wand that flashes & respond to movement, sound, light and much more! They’ll also create a magic trick to go along with their new wand.

Optional CPX coding learning tool can be purchased at check out for $35: kids will have access to it throughout the day to use, and if purchased, and continue learning coding at home.

March Break 2020 Kids Tech Camp – ages 6-12 sign up here

March Break is a time to spring into making things! We host creative technology camps for kids 6-12 that will have them learning new things while they make friends & leave with a fun technolgoy project they made themselves using laser cutters, 3D printers & more!

Kids also head outdoors for at least 45 minutes per day to Dufferin Grove Park (5-minute walk from The Maker Bean) for active games & fresh air.

Camp Schedule

Mon, Mar 16: Minecraft Modding & Custom Worlds: create your own Minecraft items, terrain and other things while you explore a fun-filled world!

Tues, Mar 17: Robots in the Restaurant: wish you had a robotic helper in the kitchen? Your kids will brainstorm, design & make a robotic tool to help them help YOU with all things food!

Wed, Mar 18: Minecraft 3D design & 3D printing: use the 3D world of Minecraft as inspiration to create 3D models of your favourite items, and learn to 3D print them yourself!

Thurs, Mar 19: Leapin’ ‘Lectrodes: make a robot that can jump, roll or leap around, complete with its own custom design

Note: The Maker Bean will not be hosting camps on Fri, Mar 20.

Week 1: Powered By Girls Tech Camp (June 29 – July 3, 4 days, closed July 1)

Explore the wonderful world of tech and imagination in a girl-positive environment! They’ll work together to build a tech project that focuses on solving a real-world problem, and present it at the end of the week to parents.

Week 2: Robotics (July 6 – 10, 5 days)

Learn and develop a variety of skills to create your own robot that kids take home at the end of the week: 2D & 3D design, laser cutting & 3D printing and programming, as well as incorporating sensors, motors & moving parts; for beginners & experienced kids alike!

Week 3: Robotics (July 13 – 17, 5 days)

Learn and develop a variety of skills to create your own robot that kids take home at the end of the week: 2D & 3D design, laser cutting & 3D printing and programming, as well as incorporating sensors, motors & moving parts; for beginners & experienced kids alike!

Week 4: Minecraft Pro (July 20 – 24, 5 days)
