Kids Camps

We’re following closely health official announcements regarding Summer Camps in Toronto, and hope to offer our Summer Camps with all necessary precautions in place.

The Maker Bean Cafe is your place for creative technology camps to engage your kids & teens, as well as tech-focused PA Day camps. Topics include Robotics, Inventions, Minecraft & Video Game Programming. All camps & programs take place at our 1052 Bloor St. West location.

There are a limited number of scholarships available to those in needs of financial assistance. Descriptions and dates for all programs below, or jump to:

Camp cancellation policy:

We will honour all cancelled camps as credit towards any of our future camp offerings, including Summer Camps, PA Days, birthday parties and our next session of weekly Thursday & Saturday camps. These programs generally fill up well in advance, and we’d love to have your children join us. To redeem your credit, please contact us through our Contact page and we’ll apply the credit to whichever program you’d like.

We are also happy to offer the credit for cafe purchases, adult workshops and laser cutting/3D printing services we offer. Take-out cafe services (including coffee beans for home) and online orders are currently available. More info on those on our website: https://themakerbean.com


Summer 2020 Tech Camps – start dates pending COVID-19 developments

Make things, friends & memories!
Have your child spend their summer break meeting new friends & learning tech skills at The Maker Bean Cafe at 1052 Bloor St. West! Using tools such as laser cutters, 3D printers & wood-working tools, and with 1 laptop per child, your children will create something straight out of their imaginations!

For kids 6-12 years old, both experienced & new makers alike.

Kids also head outdoors for at least 1 hour per day to Dufferin Grove Park (5-minute walk from The Maker Bean) for active games & fresh air.

Pricing

5-day week (Mon-Fri, 9-4): $495 (includes tax & no fees)

4-day week (9-4): $395 (includes tax & no fees; for weeks with a holiday: July 1 and Aug 3)


Add-on tickets available at bottom of ticket list:

  • Lunch & snacks for all camp days (+$15/day)
    • Lunch is a mix of healthy snacks, fruit, a hot-pressed sandwich and low-sugar drink. Example snacks would be carrot sticks, oatmeal cookies and fruit cups. Warm pressed sandwiches can be cheese & turkey, grilled cheese, etc.
  • Before-care (8-9 AM) for all camp days (+$10/day)
  • After-care (4-5 PM) for all camp days (+$10/day)

Camp schedule

Week 1: Powered By Girls Tech Camp (June 29 – July 3, 4 days, closed July 1)

Explore the wonderful world of tech and imagination in a girl-positive environment! They’ll work together to build a tech project that focuses on solving a real-world problem, and present it at the end of the week to parents.

Week 2: Robotics (July 6 – 10, 5 days)

Learn and develop a variety of skills to create your own robot that kids take home at the end of the week: 2D & 3D design, laser cutting & 3D printing and programming, as well as incorporating sensors, motors & moving parts; for beginners & experienced kids alike!

Week 3: Robotics (July 13 – 17, 5 days)

Learn and develop a variety of skills to create your own robot that kids take home at the end of the week: 2D & 3D design, laser cutting & 3D printing and programming, as well as incorporating sensors, motors & moving parts; for beginners & experienced kids alike!

Week 4: Minecraft Pro (July 20 – 24, 5 days)

Whether a beginner or experienced Minecraft player, expand your kids’ skills with this creative, learning-filled game. From designing new worlds, to collaborating with others on in-game tasks, to laser cutting & 3D printing custom items from the game, they’ll love every Minecraft-filled minute!

Week 5: Robotics (July 27 – 31 , 5 days)

Learn and develop a variety of skills to create your own robot that kids take home at the end of the week: 2D & 3D design, laser cutting & 3D printing and programming, as well as incorporating sensors, motors & moving parts; for beginners & experienced kids alike!

Week 6: Robotics (Aug 4 – 7, 4 days, closed Aug 3)
