Themes:
Monday: Minecraft Villager and LED Emerald
Today, campers will learn about electricity by crafting a villager holding a glowing emerald. We’ll start by wiring up our LED circuit to make our lights shine bright, then we’ll build our villagers with laser cut pieces and decorate them! Finally we’ll install our LED’s and add a laser cut acrylic emerald for our villagers to hold. In the afternoon we’ll all join our private Maker Bean Minecraft server and play together!
Tuesday: Amazing Animations & Felt Hand Puppets
Two fun activities for today: custom animated GIF creation and laser cut puppet making! Campers will have the opportunity to learn about animation using Wick Editor, a kid friendly, drag and drop animation software, to create a custom gif! In the afternoon, kids will channel their inner Jim Henson and make a custom hand puppet! Campers will receive an introduction to hand sewing, and use this new skill to assemble laser-cut felt puppets that they can customize their creations to their heart's content.
Wednesday: Minecraft Bee Bot
Today, campers will learn about motors by building Minecraft Bee Bots that move!
We’ll start by wiring up a dc motor to a battery, and attaching a propeller, this will make our bee bots move! Then we’ll assemble our bees from laser cut pieces and decorate them! Finally we’ll install our motors and watch our bees buzz around! In the afternoon we’ll all join our private Maker Bean Minecraft server and play together!
Thursday: Plant Powered LED’s & Flying Goose Kinetic Diorama
Two fun activities for today! In the morning, campers will work in teams to create circuits using food as batteries! We’ll experiment with different fruits and vegetables to see which ones can create the most electricity, and try to connect them in a series to power an LED. In the afternoon, campers will construct a flying goose diorama that flaps its wings. We’ll start by building and decorating a frame for our diorama and attaching our goose's body, then we’ll wire up a single axis motor and attach it to some gears to push our goose's wings up and down!
Friday: Minecraft Paper Lantern
Today, campers will get crafty by creating their own Minecraft lanterns out of paper and LEDs. We’ll start by learning how to wire up a circuit to make our lights shine bright! Then we’ll assemble our lanterns out of cardstock, complete with a chain to lang them up and install our LEDs inside! In the afternoon we’ll all join our private Maker Bean Minecraft server and play together!
