Have your kids join our community of young makers as they learn new tech skills & have fun! Our 7-week tech camps will have them learn laser cutting, 3D printing, coding and other skills as they work towards a final project.
For kids 6-12 years old, both experienced & new makers alike, at our 1052 Bloor St. West location.
Pricing
$250 for 7-week camp (~$35/session), includes all materials, facilitation & a take-home tech project from each session.
Weekly Camp Schedule - 2 sessions to choose from:
After-School Club – Thursdays 3:30-6, kids can arrive anytime after 3:30, and will start the day’s activities when they arrive, next session starts Thurs, March 6, 2025 until April 24, 2025 (7 sessions) *No class on March 13th*
Saturday Morning Camp – Saturdays 10am-12pm, next session starts Saturday, March 1, 2025 - until April 26, 2025! (7 sessions) *No class on March 8th & 15th*

Week 1: Custom Lantern - Design
Campers will start this session with a lesson in designing for laser cutting. We’ll learn how to create cut lines in Adobe Illustrator and design custom lanterns with cut out designs for the light to shine through.
Week 2: Custom Lantern - Assembly
Campers will receive the lantern pieces they designed last week and get to work assembling their custom lanterns. We’ll choose colours for our LED’s and wire them up to make our lanterns glow!
Week 3: 3D Printed Keychains
Beginner campers will get a crash course in TinkerCad, a drag and drop 3D modeling platform for kids, and learn how to make a 3D printed keychain. 3D printing pros will have the option of designing a key chain, or creating a more elaborate design with the help of our staff to bring their wildest ideas to life.
Week 4: Plush Axolotls
Campers will receive felt kits from our laser cutter and sew their own plush axolotls from scratch. We’ll have felt legs, gills and lots of accessories to customize our axolotls as well!
Week 5: Wick Editor
Campers will dive into the world of movie magic by creating their own animations in WickEditor. We’ll go over the basic principles of animation, then get work on our own productions! Shortly before camp ends we’ll arrange our chairs around the projector for Maker Bean theatre, where every camper will present their animation to the group!
Week 6: Running Squirrel
Campers will use motors, batteries and laser cut wooden pieces to create running squirrel bots! We’ll wire up a single axis motor, then we’ll complete the bodies of our squirrels and decorate to our liking. Last step is installing our motors and adding wheels to make our squirrels go!
Week 7: Coding with Scratch
To celebrate the last day of Maker Bean Camp this session, campers will code their own games with scratch, a drag and drop coding platform for kids and beginners! We’ll vote on one of 3 games together and learn how to recreate it with characters and enemies of our choosing!
