Kids also head outdoors for at least 1.5 hours per day to Dufferin Grove or Dovercourt Parks (5-minute walks from The Maker Bean) for active games & fresh air. Please ensure your kids are dressed for outdoor time during the winter.

March 11 - Minecraft Torch

Minecraft Theme 1

We will be making our very own Minecraft Torches!

We will start by assembling the LED’s that will go inside our Torch. We will learn the ins and outs of an electrical circuit, and assemble an LED on the same battery pack.

Then, we will assemble our Minecraft torch using pre-cut pieces. Then, we will add paper to the top to allow it to glow, and insert our LED inside the torch.

We will wrap the day by decorating our Minecraft Torch and playing Minecraft!

March 12 - Magic Wands

Maker Theme 1

We will be making Light Up Magic Wands!

We will start the day by designing a 3D wand charm in TinkerCad! This will make our wand extra magical! We will learn how to navigate a 3D design program, and how to make simple items using shapes.

Then, we will wire up a simple electrical circuit with an LED. This will allow our magic to glow! We will then assemble our wands using pre-cut wooden pieces. If time permits, we will also use the laser cutter to make custom engravings!

After we attach our 3D printed wand tips, we will finish the day by decorating our wands.

March 13 - Creeper Bot

Minecraft Theme 2

Today, we will create our own Creeper Bots!

We will start the day by wiring up a simple motor. We will learn how to attach wires to an electrical circuit, as well as learn how a propeller works.

We will then assemble our Creeper using pre-cut wooden pieces, attaching our motor to the inside of our bot.

We will wrap up the day by decorating our Creeper and playing Minecraft!

March 14 - Wobble UFO Bot
