Make things, friends & memories!
Have your child spend their 2026-2027 Winter Break meeting new friends & learning tech skills at The Maker Bean Cafe at 1052 Bloor St. West! Using tools such as laser cutters, 3D printers & wood-working tools, and with 1 laptop per child, your children will create something straight out of their imaginations!
We have 2 different themes to choose from: 1) Minecraft + Making Theme, and 2) Maker Theme, so you can sign your child up for multiple camps, and they won’t repeat the same activity on different theme days! Even days with the same theme have plenty of open-ended design and building that will allow your child to do something new, see below for descriptions of activities for each day!
Winter Break 2026-2027 camp dates & themes are:
- Dec 21: Minecraft + Making Theme 1
- Dec 22: Maker Theme 1
- Dec 23: Minecraft + Making Theme 2
- Dec 28: Maker Theme 2
- Dec 29: Maker Theme 1

Themes for each week:
Maker 1: Musical Ice Rinks
In this activity, campers will combine arts & crafts with hands-on building to create a custom musical ice rink. Campers will begin by painting a kit of laser cut pieces before assembling them to create the base of their carousels. We’ll also learn about how music boxes make sound with elastic force and vibrations before installing some into our builds. After lunch and a trip to the park, campers will return to decorate their Musical Ice Rinks with craft supplies.
Maker 2: Animated Holiday Cards & Plushie Polar Bears
Today campers will create two fun activities, an animated holiday card to share with their loved ones and a plushie polar bear. For our animated cards we’ll use Wick Editor, a drag and drop 2d animation platform for beginners and kids, to create custom GIFS inspired by our families favorite Winter Traditions. We’ll also practice our fine motor skills by sewing our own plush polar bears out of laser cut felt pieces and string.
Minecraft+Making 1: LED Snow Golems
Today campers will learn about circuits and building by creating their own Snow Golem Lamps. We’ll start by painting our laser cut kits before assembling. Then we’ll wire up an LED and install it inside our Snow Golems head to make them light up! After lunch and a trip to the park we’ll return to play Minecraft together in the Maker Bean’s private Minecraft server.
Minecraft+Making 2: Minecraft Inspired Mini-Games
Campers will get into the Winter spirit by learning to code a fun Minecraft snowball throwing game with Scratch, a drag and drop coding platform for beginners and kids. After lunch and a trip to the park we’ll return to play Minecraft together in the Maker Bean’s private Minecraft server.
