Make things, friends & memories!
Have your child spend their 2025-2026 Winter Break meeting new friends & learning tech skills at The Maker Bean Cafe at 1052 Bloor St. West! Using tools such as laser cutters, 3D printers & wood-working tools, and with 1 laptop per child, your children will create something straight out of their imaginations!
We have 2 different themes to choose from: 1) Minecraft + Making Theme, and 2) Maker Theme, so you can sign your child up for multiple camps, and they won’t repeat the same activity on different theme days! Even days with the same theme have plenty of open-ended design and building that will allow your child to do something new, see below for descriptions of activities for each day!
Winter Break 2025-2026 camp dates & themes are:
- Dec 22: Minecraft + Making Theme 1
- Dec 23: Maker Theme 1
- Dec 29: Minecraft + Making Theme 2
- Dec 30: Maker Theme 2
- Dec 31: Maker Theme 1
- Jan 2: Minecraft & Making Theme 1
For kids 6-12 years old, both experienced & new makers alike.
Kids also head outdoors for at least 1.5 hours per day to Dufferin Grove or Dovercourt Parks (5-minute walks from The Maker Bean) for active games & fresh air. Please ensure your kids are dressed for outdoor time during the winter.

Themes for each week:
Maker Theme 1: LED Holiday Card & Gingerbread Man Plushie (December 23 & 31)
Campers will complete two fun crafty activities today! We’ll start off the morning by creating holiday greeting cards with a tech twist! Campers will get crafty and learn about circuits and electricity by creating their own LED light up holiday cards! In the afternoon we’ll sew and decorate some gingerbread man plushies to practice out hand eye coordination!
Maker Theme 2: Coding with Scratch & Fluffy Snow Slime (December 30)
Today we’ll explore both digital and hands-on learning by completing two fun STEM activities. In the morning we’ll learn how to code a fun snowball throwing game with Scratch, a drag and drop coding platform for beginners and kids. In the afternoon we’ll learn about chemistry by making our own fluffy snow slime!
Minecraft + Making Theme 1: Laser Cut Minecraft Ornaments (December 22 & January 2)
Today Campers will learn about 2D design and laser cutting by creating their own Minecraft ornaments or bag tags. Campers will choose from a variety of images of Minecraft mobs and tools, then we’ll learn how to turn our images into laser cuttable designs! Once our designs are ready we’ll cut them out of wood sheets, colour them and add string to decorate our trees or accessorize our back packs!
Minecraft + Making Theme 2: Minecraft Stained Glass Mosaic (December 29)
Today campers will create Minecraft inspired mosaics from acrylic pieces and wooden frames. Then we’ll learn how to use screwdrivers and bolts to hold our stained glass mosaics together so we can display them to our friends and families. In the afternoon we’ll all have a Minecraft gaming session together in our private Maker Bean server!
